Acacia Home Communities

There's this song we teach our children. "Here's the church, here's the steeple, open the door and see all the people." At the Riverside Community we would argue that "the people" are "the church." We believe that the transformative power of God will be made manifest in people's homes where Jesus is the most valued member at the table.

We call our homes of believers "Acacia" groups. The Acacia tree is a tree that thrives in the scorching heat of the wilderness, and it not only thrives, but it provides shade. That is our call, that is our hope, that our very homes would become shade in the wilderness, which is the world we live in. We believe that the Acts 2 model of gathering people in homes is the biblical method of creating authentic community. As we gather together to study, pray, and encourage one another, our lives will become woven together into the very fabric of God's story. Real fellowship is about experiencing life together.
